Privacy Policy
Ask Yogi Universe, LLC · Last updated: October 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Ask Yogi Universe collects, why, who we share it with, and what rights you have. It is written to be read by anyone, and has two annexes with extra detail for particular places:
Annex A — United States State Disclosures, for residents of California and other US states with privacy laws.
Annex B — EU, EEA, Swiss and UK Disclosures, for people in the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
If you live in Washington, Nevada or Connecticut, you should also read our Consumer Health Data Policy, which is published as a separate document at https://www.askyogi.com/en/consumer-health-data-privacy-policy and forms part of this Policy.

2. What Ask Yogi Universe is
Ask Yogi Universe is an astrology app. It produces horoscopes, readings, astrological remedies, reports and AI chat answers by applying astrological interpretation to the birth details you give us. Everything it produces is for entertainment only: it is not scientific, is not based on real-world data about any person or event, and must not be treated as fact. Nothing in the Service is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.
3. What we collect
We collect information about the person using the Service, and the birth details you choose to enter for other people so that we can produce a chart about them for you. We do not ask for anything else about anyone else.
3.1 Information you give us
Account: your email address and a name or nickname you choose.
Birth details: your date of birth, time of birth and place of birth, and optionally your gender. These are used to calculate your chart.
AI chat content: the messages you type into the AI chat.
Voice notes: if you record a voice note, the audio recording, which is transcribed and then deleted immediately — we keep only the transcript.
Profile photo: an image you choose from your photo library or take with your camera, as cropped and positioned by you. Setting one is optional. It is visible only to you, unless you share a plan with other people or are linked to them by a share link, in which case each person in that group can see the others’ profile photo. It is never public and never shown outside that group.
Other people’s birth details: see Section 3.4.
3.2 Information we receive automatically
IP address
device identifier, operating system and device type
usage logs, crash diagnostics and session data
approximate region derived from IP address
on our website and web app, the cookie and similar data described in Section 13
3.3 Location — city level only
With your permission, we collect your approximate, city-level location so that your daily horoscope and astrological timings are calculated for where you actually are. We store it so that your timings stay correct between sessions.
We do not collect precise GPS coordinates, we do not track your movements, and we do not use location for advertising, profiling or analytics. Your location is never sent to any AI provider. If you decline the permission you can set your city manually, and the rest of the Service works normally.
3.4 Additional horoscopes — birth details for other people
The Service can produce a chart or reading about another person — a partner, spouse, sibling, child, parent or grandparent, for example. This happens in one of two ways.
You enter the details yourself. For each such person we collect only a name or label you choose and their date, time and place of birth. No account is created for them and nothing is sent to them. This is the only way a child under 13 can be added, and only that child’s own parent or legal guardian may do it. We use the details only to generate the chart or reading you asked for, and for nothing else.
You invite them to onboard themselves. You generate a share link and send it to them yourself. We do not send the invitation, and we do not collect that person’s email address, telephone number or any other contact detail in order to invite them. A share link that is never accepted expires and is deleted after 30 days. If they accept, they create their own account, accept our Terms and this Policy themselves, and enter their own birth details — at which point they are a user in their own right and this Policy applies to them directly. Invitations may be sent only to people aged 13 or over.
Where a person has onboarded through a share link, the account holder who invited them can see that person’s chart and readings while the link remains active, but cannot see that person’s AI chat, voice notes or anything else private to their account. The invited person can revoke that access at any time, and can delete their own account at any time; either action ends the other person’s access to their chart.
We never contact a person whose details you entered under the first method, and we never create an account for them.
3.5 Payment information
In-app purchases are processed by Apple and Google. Purchases on our website and web app are made through DoDo Payments, Inc., which acts as merchant of record and is therefore an independent controller of the payment data for those transactions, not merely our service provider; its own privacy policy governs what it does with that data. We never receive or store a full payment card number. For web purchases we receive only the last four digits of the card and the billing postal code. We also use a subscription management service to keep your subscription status consistent across platforms; it receives a purchase identifier and your subscription status, and no payment card details.
3.6 Device permissions
We ask your permission before using:
your photo library, to choose a profile photo;
your camera, to take a profile photo;
your microphone, to record a voice note;
your location, at city level, for horoscope timing; and
speech recognition, to turn a voice note into text.
Each is optional, is requested only when you first use the feature, and can be refused or withdrawn in your device settings without losing the rest of the Service. The App does not access your camera or microphone at any other time, and does not record calls.
4. What we do not collect
precise or real-time location, or GPS coordinates — our location data is city level only
biometric information of any kind, including facial geometry, fingerprints, voiceprints or iris scans — we run no face detection, facial recognition, voice identification or other biometric analysis on any photo or recording
government identification numbers, including Social Security numbers
health or medical information
your real name, unless you choose to use it as your display name
racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, political opinions, or sexual orientation
voice or video recordings other than a voice note you deliberately record and send us — the App never records calls and never listens except while you hold the record button, and voice note audio is deleted as soon as it is transcribed
information about anyone other than you, apart from the birth details described in Section 3.4
5. How we use your information
to calculate charts and produce your horoscopes, readings, remedies and reports
to run the AI chat and voice features
to calculate astrological timings for your city
to operate, maintain and secure the Service, and to fix problems
to manage your account, your subscriptions and your purchases
to answer your messages to support
to prevent fraud and to defend against payment disputes and chargebacks
to understand how the Service is used, so we can improve it
to send you marketing email, if you have asked to receive it
to comply with the law
We do not use your information to train or improve any AI model, ours or anyone else’s. We do not make decisions about you by purely automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects — generating a horoscope is not a decision about you.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
We use service providers in the following categories, and share only what each needs:
Cloud hosting and infrastructure
Payment processing and app distribution — Apple and Google for in-app purchases, and DoDo Payments, Inc. as merchant of record for website and web app purchases. Each acts as an independent controller of the payment data for the transactions it handles, under its own privacy policy.
Subscription management — the service we use to keep your subscription status consistent across platforms, which receives a purchase identifier and your subscription status
Third-party AI providers — DeepSeek, and OpenRouter as a routing service; see Section 7
Speech recognition and text-to-speech — where a platform or third-party service is used; see Section 7
Analytics, crash reporting and install attribution — the Apple and Google app store consoles, and Linkrunner
Email delivery and customer support tools
Because service providers change from time to time, we keep an up-to-date list of the specific companies in each category, available at support@askyogi.com on request and published on askyogi.com. We will update this Policy if we add a category of recipient.
We do not use third-party advertising networks in the App, and we do not display third-party advertising in it.
We may also disclose information as described in Section 14 (legal process) and Section 15 (business transfers).
7. AI processing
7.1 Which systems process your messages
By default, AI features run on our own AI models, hosted on our own infrastructure. This is the normal path, and on it your messages do not leave our systems or reach any third-party AI company.
A third-party provider is used only as fallback or overflow — when our own model is unavailable, for example during maintenance, an update or an outage, or when demand exceeds the capacity of our own connection and we would otherwise keep you waiting. In those cases an AI feature may instead be processed by:
DeepSeek, a third-party AI provider based in the People’s Republic of China, reached through a direct connection to its interface; or
DeepSeek reached through OpenRouter, a third-party routing service that forwards requests to AI providers on our behalf. We use it so that we are not limited by the capacity of any single connection and can keep serving you quickly.
Where OpenRouter is used, both OpenRouter and DeepSeek receive the content of the request.
OpenRouter does not retain the prompts we send it. Prompt logging is switched off in our account settings, and our routing is configured to use DeepSeek models only — OpenRouter does not forward our requests to any other AI provider. We do not control either company, and each handles data under its own terms and privacy policy, which we cannot vary.
7.2 What is sent, and what is never sent
Sent to an AI provider: your name or nickname as it appears in the conversation, the text of any message you type, the transcript of any voice note you send, and reading or chart text generated by our own engine for rewriting into prose.
Never sent to any AI provider: your email address, your payment information, your profile photo, your device identifiers, your IP address, or your location.
Please do not type or record information about other people beyond the birth details described in Section 3.4, sensitive personal information such as health information or government identification numbers, or confidential information of any kind.
We do not ask for sensitive information and we do not want it. But the AI chat is a free text box, and we cannot control what you type into it. If you choose to type something sensitive — for example about your religion, your health or your relationships — you are providing it to us voluntarily, it is stored with the rest of your chat under Section 9, and it may be sent to an AI provider as described above. We do not analyse it to infer anything about you, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. If you would rather we did not hold it, delete the message or your account.
7.3 Voice notes and spoken replies
A voice note is transcribed into text and the audio is deleted immediately afterwards; we keep only the transcript. Transcription may be performed by our own systems, by DeepSeek, or by the speech recognition service built into your device’s platform, which may process the audio on your device or on that platform’s own servers under its own privacy policy.
When the Service reads an answer aloud, the text of that answer is converted to speech either on your own device or, where the conversion is done on a server, by the text-to-speech service of Amazon Web Services, which is also our hosting provider. No other company is involved. We never send your voice recording to a text-to-speech service, and we never analyse your voice or use it to identify you.
7.4 International transfer for AI processing
Data sent to DeepSeek leaves your country and may be stored or processed in China or elsewhere, under privacy laws that may offer less protection than your own. Section 8 explains the legal basis for that transfer.
8. International transfers
We are based in the United States. Your information is processed primarily in the United States, and may also be processed in other regions for performance and availability.
For people in the EU, EEA, Switzerland and the UK, transfers out of your region rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, with the UK Addendum where applicable and the Swiss-recognised equivalent, together with any additional measures needed following a transfer impact assessment. For the AI processing described in Section 7, which involves a transfer to China and to OpenRouter, we rely on your explicit consent to that specific transfer, given when you choose to use the AI features; you can avoid it entirely by not using them. For Brazil, we rely on safeguards recognised under the LGPD. You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguards at support@askyogi.com.
9. How long we keep information — our retention policy
This is our written data retention policy. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes below, and then delete it. We do not keep information indefinitely.
Account information (email, name or nickname): for as long as your account is open, then deleted within 30 days of closure.
Inactive accounts: if you do not use the Service for two years, we close your account automatically and delete your data on the timetable above. We will email you before we do, so that you can keep the account open if you want to.
Birth details, yours and those you entered for other people: for as long as your account or the relevant profile exists, because they are needed to produce every chart; then deleted within 30 days.
Voice note audio: deleted immediately after transcription. We do not retain the recording at all.
AI chat content, including voice note transcripts: 18 months from the date of the message, to operate the Service, prevent fraud and defend against payment disputes and chargebacks, or the applicable limitation period if longer.
Pending share links: a share link that is not accepted expires and is deleted after 30 days. We hold no contact details for the person it was sent to.
Profile photos: stored while set. Deleted when you remove the photo, and when the account is deleted, and purged from backups within 30 days of either.
City-level location: your current city is stored while your account is open and is overwritten when it changes; deleted with your account.
Reports you have purchased: for as long as your account is open, so that you can re-read them.
Usage logs, crash diagnostics and device identifiers: 18 months.
Payment records (last four digits, billing postal code, transaction history): 7 years, as required for tax and accounting.
If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we are required by law to keep it, in which case we will tell you. Routine backups may hold a copy for a short further period before being overwritten.
10. Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the information we hold, including encryption in transit, access controls limiting access to staff who need it, and logging. Access to AI chat content is restricted to a small number of engineering and support staff who need it to run the Service, investigate a problem or respond to a payment dispute. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can:
access the personal information we hold about you;
correct anything inaccurate;
delete your account and your information, in the App, on askyogi.com, or by writing to us;
withdraw a permission — location, microphone, camera or photos — in your device settings at any time;
unsubscribe from marketing email, using the link in any message or by writing to us; and
complain to us at support@askyogi.com.
Depending on where you live you may have further rights — see Annex A if you are in the United States and Annex B if you are in the EU, EEA, Switzerland or the UK. Brazilian residents have rights of confirmation, access, correction, anonymisation or deletion, portability, information about sharing, and withdrawal of consent, and may complain to the ANPD.
To exercise any right, email support@askyogi.com. We will respond within the time the applicable law allows. We may need to verify your identity, and we will never treat you worse for exercising a right.
12. Children
The Service is for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children under 13, we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and anyone under 13 is not permitted to create or hold an account.
If we learn that we hold personal information about a child under 13, we delete it promptly and close the account. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email support@askyogi.com and we will remove it.
If you are between 13 and 18, or the age of majority where you live, you should use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. In the European Union and EEA the age at which a person can consent for themselves varies between 13 and 16 by country; we honour the age set where the user is, and where a user is below it we rely on the consent of the holder of parental responsibility. In the United Kingdom that age is 13.
A parent or legal guardian may enter a child’s birth details as a profile in their own account, as described in Section 3.4. Those details are used only to produce a chart for the parent, and no account is created for the child. Share links may be sent only to people aged 13 or over — a child under 13 can never be invited to create an account.
13. Cookies, SDKs and analytics
The App uses a small number of software development kits for hosting, crash reporting, analytics and install attribution. Our website and web app at askyogi.com additionally use cookies and similar technologies, some of which are strictly necessary to run the site and your checkout, and some of which are not.
Where the law requires your consent for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we ask for it before they are set, and you can decline or withdraw it at any time through the cookie settings on our website. Essential cookies cannot be declined because the site cannot function without them. Our cookie notice on askyogi.com lists the current cookies, what each does and how long it lasts.
We do not use third-party advertising networks and we do not display third-party advertising. On Apple devices, if we ever use the advertising identifier we will ask your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt first.
Do Not Track. Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common industry standard for how a business should respond to one, and we do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. There is nothing for such a signal to stop: we do not track you across other companies’ websites or apps, and we use no third-party advertising networks. Annex A explains how we treat the Global Privacy Control signal, which is different.
14. Legal process
We disclose personal information to a government authority only where we are legally compelled to — by a valid subpoena, court order, warrant or other binding legal requirement — and then only the minimum the requirement calls for. We review every request and will challenge one that appears overbroad or invalid. Where we are permitted to do so, and it is practical, we will tell you if we receive a legal request for your information.
15. Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation or sale of assets, or become insolvent, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to honour this Policy, and will tell you if your information becomes subject to a materially different policy.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. For a change that materially affects how we handle your personal information, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice in the App and by email, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent. Other changes take effect when posted. The "Last updated" date at the top always shows the current version.

Annex A — United States State Disclosures
Part of the Ask Yogi Universe Privacy Policy · Last updated: October 29, 2026
This Annex applies if you live in a US state with a comprehensive privacy law, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and others. It adds to the main Policy.
A1. Categories of personal information
In the twelve months before the date of this Policy we collected the following categories, as those categories are defined by California law:
Identifiers — email address, name or nickname, IP address, device identifier
Commercial information — subscription and purchase history, last four digits of payment card, billing postal code
Internet or network activity — usage logs, crash diagnostics, session data, and website cookie data
Geolocation — approximate, city-level location only, and approximate region derived from IP address; never precise geolocation
Characteristics — date of birth and optionally gender
Audio and visual information — a profile photo if you set one; voice note audio, transcribed and then deleted immediately
Other information you provide — time and place of birth, AI chat messages and voice note transcripts, and birth details you enter for other people
We collected these from you directly and automatically from your device. We use and disclose them for the purposes in Section 5 of the main Policy, to the categories of service provider in Section 6.
We do not collect any category of sensitive personal information as defined by California law. We do not collect precise geolocation, biometric information, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health information, or government identification numbers. City-level location is not precise geolocation. A profile photo and a voice note are not biometric information as we handle them: we run no face detection, facial recognition, voice identification or other biometric analysis on either, and voice note audio is deleted as soon as it is transcribed.
A2. We do not sell or share your information
We have not sold personal information, and have not shared it for cross-context behavioural advertising, in the twelve months before the date of this Policy. We do not do either now. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Global Privacy Control. Some browsers and browser extensions send a Global Privacy Control ("GPC") signal, which California treats as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We honour it. In practice there is nothing for it to stop, because we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as stated above.
A3. Your rights
Know and access — what we collect, why, where it came from, and who we disclose it to, and a copy of it
Delete — subject to the retention exceptions in Section 9 of the main Policy
Correct — inaccurate personal information
Opt out of sale or sharing — we do neither, so there is nothing to opt out of
Limit use of sensitive personal information — we collect none
Opt out of profiling for decisions with significant effects — we do not do this
Portability — a copy in a portable, readily usable format
Non-discrimination — we will never charge you more, give you less, or treat you worse for exercising a right
Appeal — if we refuse a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision; we will respond within the time your state’s law allows
A4. How to exercise them
Email support@askyogi.com with the right you want to exercise. We will acknowledge within 10 days and respond within 45 days, extendable once by a further 45 days if we tell you why. We may ask you to confirm details we already hold in order to verify your identity. An authorised agent may act for you with your written permission and proof of their authority.
A5. How to complain
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request or your personal information, you may complain to your state attorney general. California residents may also complain to the California Privacy Protection Agency or the California Attorney General.
A6. Notice of financial incentive
We do not offer any financial incentive or price difference in exchange for personal information.
Annex B — EU, EEA, Swiss and UK Disclosures
Part of the Ask Yogi Universe Privacy Policy · Last updated: October 29, 2026
This Annex applies if you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the United Kingdom. It adds to the main Policy.
B1. Controller and representative
The controller is Ask Yogi Universe, LLC, at the address in Section 1 of the main Policy. Our representative in the EU, the UK and Switzerland is Prighter Group, as described in Section 1, reachable at https://app.prighter.com/portal/AskYogi. You may contact either of us.
B2. Legal bases
We rely on the following legal bases under Article 6:
Performance of a contract — to create and run your account, calculate your charts, produce your horoscopes, readings, remedies and reports, and manage your subscriptions and purchases
Legitimate interests — to secure the Service, prevent fraud, defend against payment disputes, fix problems, and understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. We have balanced these against your rights and you may object at any time (Section B3).
Consent — for marketing email; for the city-level location permission; for the AI transfers described in Sections 7 and 8 of the main Policy; and for any non-essential cookie or similar technology. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before you did.
Legal obligation — to keep tax and accounting records, and to respond to binding legal requirements
Where a user is below the age of digital consent in their country, we rely on the consent of the holder of parental responsibility, under Article 8.
We do not process special category data under Article 9. Your date of birth is not special category data, and we do not infer or record any special category information from it or from any reading.
B3. Your rights
Access — confirmation of whether we process your data and a copy of it
Rectification — correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
Erasure — deletion, where one of the Article 17 grounds applies
Restriction — to have us pause processing while a dispute is resolved
Portability — data you gave us, in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and transmission to another controller where technically feasible
Objection — to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time and absolutely
Withdraw consent — at any time, where we rely on consent
Not to be subject to a solely automated decision with legal or similarly significant effects — we do not make such decisions
Complain — to your national supervisory authority, the ICO in the UK, or the FDPIC in Switzerland
Email support@askyogi.com, or use our representative. We respond within one month, extendable by two further months for complex requests, in which case we will tell you within the first month.
B4. International transfers
Your data is transferred to the United States and may be processed in other regions, as described in Section 8 of the main Policy. These transfers rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum for UK transfers and the Swiss-recognised equivalent, together with any additional measures needed following a transfer impact assessment. The separate transfers for AI processing — to DeepSeek in China, and to OpenRouter — rely on your explicit consent under Article 49(1)(a); you can avoid them by not using the AI features. You can request a copy of the relevant safeguards from us.
B5. Automated processing
Horoscopes, readings, remedies and reports are generated automatically from birth details. This is not a decision about you within the meaning of Article 22: it has no legal effect and no similarly significant effect, because the content is entertainment and we make no decision about you on the basis of it. You may nevertheless ask us how it is generated.
B6. Consequences of not providing data
You do not have to give us your birth details, but without them we cannot calculate a chart or produce a reading, which is the purpose of the Service. Your email address is needed to create an account. Location, camera, photo library and microphone permissions are all optional.
B7. Your right of withdrawal
As a consumer in the EU, EEA or UK you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from a distance purchase, subject to the immediate-delivery consent described in Section 11.7 of our Terms of Service. That section explains how it works and how to exercise it.
